[Yuuto stares at her thoughtfully... But he's not so stupid as to ask his Ex for help in securing his boyfriend as a roommate. He'll figure that out on his own, right?
Besides. He'd rather learn more about Inaba... Even if this topic is dicey.]
Is that a hobby of yours, Inaba? It doesn't surprise me... You're really observant and clever, huh..? Is it fun to 'play Cupid?'
I see... A hobby like that might be a bit too powerful in a world like this one, huh?
[Yuuto leans into the table on his elbows.]
You are really observant though. You had me figured out even before I did... and I think you've seen through most of my masks by now. That must be kind of lonely..?
Maybe putting you in charge of the cameras was a weird idea, if you have hobbies like that…
[He is ready to tease and not be so serious, but she brings up her friends again. Even now, he takes a moment to admire the way that Inaba looks and sounds when she mentions her friends. It reassures him that their breakup was the best decision.]
You mentioned Iori-san… I didn’t realize there was a second person.
But they’re why you stayed around me, huh? I’m grateful.
Hmm? Do you want to be in charge then, Yuuto? You can figure out how to fix them if they go down all. By. Yourself.
[ She smiles, but it's definitely not a kind one. It's one that's almost cruel and malicious, full of evident teasing.
But that soon fades when he mentions Iori. ]
Mm. You're pretty similar to Iori in some aspects, yeah. You're also similar to Taichi in some aspects, too. But your similarities to them wasn't why I...
[ She trails off. ]
Forget it. Any of that crap's unimportant, anyway.
If I trust anyone to watch everyone kindly, I guess it would still be you. [He answers honestly, otherwise resisting the urge to tease her more. It's fun, but he wants to make sure they aren't burying anything first.]
... Yeah. That person never existed.
But! I'm glad. Iori-san and Taichi-san are so important to you. I'm glad that you have them.
[He smiles deviously, offering to move along:] I wouldn't mind learning more about cameras though! I had a lot of fun with the programming books that I got. It's actually pretty easy once I realized it's the same as my power.
[ The very moment when he's done, hearing the words that person never existed is enough to make Inaba frown and get up to karate chop him on the head. ]
Say those words again and I'll do more than that.
[ And now she's taking a seat back down. Time to eat this cake. ]
I'm actually not as intimately familiar with cameras as I am with computers themselves, if I'm going to be honest. They're not really my forte.
[ That forte is going to belong to someone else. ]
But I understand the general gist of how they work and how to assemble and disassemble them. There's a lot of small parts, but it's not too bad. More tedious than building a computer from scratch though.
But you said..? [He grumbles, but doesn't raise a hand to rub his head or tend to the throbbing. If he doesn't understand why she's upset, then maybe he needs to let it sink in? After all, Inaba was the one who left while saying she only liked the idea of 'Yuuto.'
... Cameras make his head hurt less than this, and that's saying something.]
I see. If it's something like that, I might be able to catch on. If nothing else, I can help you set them up for good viewing angles. I know space quite well, after all. And I'm sure it would help to have them in more places than just the Wishing Boards.
Blah blah I don't give a damn what past me said -- I was wrong, back then.
[ That's an admission that she isn't making lightly. ]
I actually had a good idea on where to put them on the Wishing Boards themselves. I didn't want them to stand out or be too obvious, since I don't want people trying to cover up the cameras or obscure them.
I was thinking that if we were to set up more cameras in places besides the Wishing Boards, the key locations would be the shrines, the bakery, the train station and the park where the sakura tree is. I've thought of other locations as well besides these, but those other locations are ones that are outside of my domain to deal with.
Although naturally I'd still have to ask for permission in some of the public places that I've mentioned.
[He still doesn't get it, but he'll worry about that later. Inaba is on a roll with her planning and he isn't going to stop her. Rather, he's here to offer help and make sure she doesn't stress about this on her own anymore.]
That sounds good. I can help with that, mm. You already have permission to do whatever you want to my shrine and I have a nice view of the city. [Yuuto is already making a mental list-] Love, Sin, Creativity, Spacetime, Curiosity... Gira-san's shrine could use a camera as well. And perhaps the wishing well at the amusement park? That's going to be a lot of camera equipment.
[he's very stubborn about being stupid, thank you! Yuuto huffs to indicate that stubbornness.]
Yeah, I can show you that one. I can give you some starling to trade for the equipment too... and I'll skip my medicine later, so that I can wake up long enough to help.
You want it set up before the Wish Maker arrives, right?
I think that it'll be a huge help. If you all can keep an eye on more of the city at once, then Wish Maker can't sneak around as easily. Taking away the element of surprise is a big deal, right?
[... Oh. Yuuto sits up straight, cheeks turning red again.]
This isn't good cake conversation, is it? How is it, by the way? Okay?
That's a good point. Maybe it would help to teach some other people how to monitor them in shifts..?
[He brightens considerably when he hears the compliment, finally letting the sadder topic go.]
I'm glad to hear it! Baking is something that I don't like using my power for, so I wasn't sure if it would turn out as good as the regular meals that I make... Luckily Ryoko is handling all of the desserts, so you're my only test subject. No one else is getting bad joke cake!
If I give everyone that I love a cake with a capsule prize inside of it, then maybe I can normalize it being for friends! I'll even learn new jokes or fun trivia, or I could put toys or presents inside?
[And now that she’s watched it with him, she may be able to notice how the way that his hair gets fluffy or flatter with his emotions is him mimicking Ghibli animation.]
That witch using her power to help and save people… She’s so cool! I wish I could do that too.
