Hey-- the steak is perfectly fine and edible! Don't waste food!
[ Don't judge her taste in food, wtf.....
In any case, the kitchen seems to be primarily stocked with canned goods and junk food. Things that can last a long time and don't have to be thrown out after a couple of days. ]
[Good news: He's got a lot of things to judge about her! He also finds this a weird kind of cute, but-
It occurs to him that she's been eating this way for a while.
And it's probably not healthy.
Or very good for her mental state!]
I'm not going to waste it. Give me a second to see what you have... [He does take the dinner that she suggested, checks the ingredients on the box, then looks for some spices.] I'm making stew. You wanna fight about it or naw?
[He giggles, then steps towards the counter to focus on cooking. Secretly, he's curious to hear what kind of music she likes. He needs to get her a Christmas gift that isn't her upcoming set of kitchen knives, after all.]
[Yuuto listens as Inaba leaves to retrieve her phone. While he never checked what was on it, he knows that she would only have been able to argue with Ryoko over text. For a few seconds, he holds his breath and quietly wishes her the best. She's can get stronger, bit by bit.
When he hears her returning, his shoulders sink with relief. Before Yuuto can finish whispering 'thank you' to whatever kami must be watching over her, Inaba starts to play the song--
And Yuuto, recognizing the voice, freezes up... and wastes a few seconds by focusing too hard on the vocals.
Then he gasps and turns back to the task of cooking.]
Eh- Th-That was..! Auuu I'll make you pay for that! I'm still gonna win!
[And to prove his point, Yuuto wraps the strings of space around his fingers and begins to careful twist them. His eyes turn violet until the end of the song, which is when he sighs in relief. Rather than win, he's tried to make it a draw. There are two bowls of stew sitting on the counter-- and a packaged container of leftovers too!]
[Yuuto takes the smaller bowl, since he isn't really eating these days. He's just trying to make sure that the food tastes good and that she isn't suffering-- and he's overly polite.
He sighs along with her, reminded that he can't help her for the long term. Not unless he gets crafty.]
Is it okay? There was some left, so I packaged it.
[ She takes her chopsticks and starts to eat. She's not really in the mood to actually, well - eat too much, but she forces it down out of politeness regardless. ]
[He relaxes enough to smile again. Even if she doesn’t eat much, Yuuto is happy to see her eating anything at all. He may be overjoyed to get to spend time with her, but he’s also worried.]
I’m so glad… I can make you anything else that you ask for. Any time! I’ll take care of all of the dishes too, Kay?
[In the back of his mind, he’s scheming ways to keep this promise. Inaba is too important for a little nap to get in the way of helping her.
Absently, he voices part of these thoughts by quietly whispering;]
[Yuuto's mood does dampen when he's reminded that he'll have to leave. Normally he would be fine with that, but the circumstances here aren't 'normal.' He just found Inaba collapsed on the ground from stress, after all, and now she wants to go back to work? And on a more selfish note, he's afraid to return home and go back to sleep. He'd like to postpone that.]
What are you even working on? I'm sorry. I didn't realize that I'd made the boards so bad that you'd be this busy...
It's for security purposes, mostly. That way we won't have to keep on continuously staking out every night. I want to make them durable too, so I'll need materials to keep them encased as well.
[ ... ]
If you have them, toss them over and I can take a look at it. I have some programs on my computer that can clean it up a bit and make it easier to parse.
[He's been asleep since the middle of November, so Yuuto hasn't seen the Wishing Boards lately. Not wanting to discuss his health, he carefully tries to move the conversation along without her questioning why he isn't up to date. Maybe she'll just think he's stupid? It's why he plays the part, anyway.]
Mm, I have one copy with me for emergencies. You could offload the relevant files onto your computer before I leave? I'd be in your debt.
[ Unfortunately for him, she doesn't think that he's stupid, but rather thinks that he hasn't been paying attention to them. Two completely different things. ]
Well, I'll just bring you up to speed. Last month, one of the spirits was basically sabotaging them and this month someone - not sure if it's a spirit or not, wrote that they want to see the Kami of Love fall.

[His expression does twitch into a competition smile. And the kitchen comes to life with floating ingredients and cookware.]
I could be done before you finish playing a pop song?

Shit, where's my phone... don't start yet until I find it!

[Yuuto is spinning knives, like the safe person that he is. He doesn't turn around to face her yet, but his tail points towards the living room.]
Living room coffee table~.

Oh.
Right.
This is what made her collapse... is she even ready to look at it? She's sure that she's not. And yet, she braces herself for it anyway.
Ah- ]
......
[ Let's ignore that and shove it under the recesses of her mind for now!
Closing the application for a moment before opening her music application and well. She opts to play a song.
That sure is, by all technicalities... her own voice. ]

I'm done.

[Look at how well he hides his depression??? Hello????
Yuuto pouts and pushes the bowls down the counter.]
Come get your food dammit.

Anyway, she's just going to go and grab the bowl with a sigh. ]

[ "Any time" is a scary, terrifying word for her.
She also hears that last bit, but she's not going to voice her thoughts on it right now. ]
After this, I'll get back to work, so you're going to have to leave from your B&E.

I might need to see if I can program a thing too, later.

[He nods slowly, trying to understand.]
Do you need my materials for programming? I'm still a beginner, so I hope it's not too messy.
