Apologies for taking my time to get back to you, but since the Welcoming Committee is well underway I was wondering if you'd be interested in a collaboration idea of sorts?

I was thinking about how different a lot of the cultures are here and from the people joining us, and wondered if a questionnaire of just a short slip of events people would like to see could be collected, either on arrival or generally, and we could see what it would take to arrange something? I thought it may help people settle more quickly if they knew there was a chance a piece of home could make its way here.

I'd like to do the same for the locals here, and perhaps use this as another way for us to bridge the gap and have all people getting along better.

A collaboration would absolutely be excellent!

I think a questionnaire would be useful in general to see what types of things people would like to see that aren't normally here would be useful.

And learning more about the locals would be good.

I think both sides may appreciate the effort, especially since things have potentially seemed a little bleak lately.

Do you think we should aim the questions so they need more specific answers? Or perhaps provide examples?

Of course.

I think having specificity and examples will help give people a better idea as to what's being looked for. It's better to have things defined than not.

I wouldn't wish to make the questions leading either, so I suppose we'll need to think of a way to keep it open despite giving the examples.

That honestly shouldn't be too difficult.

Especially if reminders are written to think of home, rather than what they've read on the paper.

The paper can only do so much, after all.

Do you think it would be helpful to have someone there to answer questions on it as well? Or just leave it as a clear space to give people privacy?

I think it'd be easier to at least have someone to assist for any questions, it'd also help in case someone decides to potentially be unruly.

In which case, once the questions are ready we may need to ask if anyone is willing to help. I'd be surprised if anyone is unruly over it, but I haven't been in the research centre in a while.
