《 basic information 》
![]() ▷ FIRST IMPRESSIONS ♚ VISUAL: Inaba Himeko ( 稲葉 姫子 ) rounds about average height for her age - around 5'2" and is of average weight. She has dark black hair that reaches her shoulders and bangs parted to the right. She's a B cup, and is described in canon as someone beautiful enough to be seen as a model. She is never seen slouching and always sits and stands up straight. ♚ FASHION: Inaba herself tends to wear darker hues, leaning towards shades of black, gray, and neutrals, though on certain occasions she wears lighter hues; primarily to impress somebody, or because it sets the tone for where she's going. She does prefer pants over skirts, but will not hesitate to wear a skirt or dress. Her fashion sense tends to fit the style of the modern Japanese teen. ♚ DEMEANOUR: She's generally very serious a good percentage of the time, to the point where she can be seen as cold and distant. She's not animated in the slightest bit a good percentage of the time; however, when it comes to messing around with people and trying to put them in their place, she can get physical and emotional. However, she herself tries her best to keep her emotions in check and hides anything negative to the best of her ability. ♚ AURAL: Inaba is voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro. Here (NSFW) and here are good examples of how she speaks. She refers to herself using "atashi" (アタシ) and generally speaks in a rough, somewhat masculine manner. However, in "dere" mode, her voice goes up several octaves, her demeanor changes visibly where she can act rather shy and embarrassed which can be heard in this audio clip as well as this one from the Kokoro Connect PSP game, Yochi Random. She can speak Japanese fluently and enough of English to get by, though her English is a bit accented. ♚ OLFACTORY: Clean. Inaba generally doesn't add anything besides the usual soap and shampoo unless she wants to impress someone. ♚ MENTAL INFORMATION: Inaba has been tampered with several times in canon, both mentally and physically. This means that for anybody who can see her memories, they can see memories of her looking at herself from the outside, but not like a mirror in the slightest bit. Her thoughts, on the other hand, are of constant worry and panic unless she's in a really good mood. ♚ MAGICAL INFORMATION: Nothing. ▷ BASIC BACKGROUND: ♚ PRE-CANON: Inaba Himeko is the youngest daughter in her family - she has two older brothers of indeterminate age, one that still lives with them and one that's long since moved out. For many years, Inaba was lonely, not having any "real" friends and always kept to herself. She would go to school, hang out with people, and then go home and use her computer by herself. In middle school as well, she created a time capsule with a letter that said that she wished to make friends. When she entered high school, she joined the computer club, but was forced out after she had an argument with the club president. In a school where clubs are mandatory, she was eventually forced to join the Cultural Research Club (CRC / also translated as the 'Student Cultural Research Society/StuCS'), a group with five freshman where they created a newspaper and just hung out together as friends. ♚ CANON: Just a few months in the semester, the CRC eventually deal with their first dilemma: Heartseed. Heartseed is a mysterious being which has the ability to place phenomenons on the group. Phenomenons experienced so far are the following: personality exchange, desire unleash, time regression, emotion transmission, illusion projection forced termination, and dream perception. In order, the phenomenons do the following:
▷ PERSONALITY
She's even willing, at times, to play along with other people's jokes, being the "straight man" of the group; in fact, she even sometimes willing to mess around with people if it means that she can get a bit of entertainment out of it, although it's never outright malicious. However, all of this is just a well crafted façade that Inaba wears throughout the first two volumes in front of her friends and also in front of others so that people can believe that she has everything together when she honestly... does not. This all boils down to Inaba's main issue: she finds it difficult, if almost nigh impossible to trust other people at all. It doesn't just simply boil down to just strangers, however; this also includes both her friends and close family members as well, too. It's because of this mindset of hers that she winds up pushing other people aside, wearing that proverbial mask of calm when necessary when she actually sees other people as her 'enemy', as someone out to get her and could potentially backstab her in the future. She just simply does not want people to see that she's actually much weaker than how she presents herself, and thus puts up airs of confidence externally in spite of her constantly being anxious and fretting over others. Naturally, those 'airs of confidence' end up boiling down to her language ending up being rather crass and almost outright rude - the only exception to the rule being when she's around her superiors or trying to get something she wants out of someone. Of course, throughout the novels, she does manage to gain the courage and strength to step over this weakness of hers and open up to others in spite of her fear of being looked down upon and being hated - revealing that she actually cares a lot about how others perceive her as a person quite a lot. But how she gets this strength is through the support of the others around her, reassuring her that everything, in the end will be alright in spite of her anxieties and worries. Inaba's trouble to trust others comes down to the fact that she focuses a lot on logic over emotion; she's an analyst through and through to the point where she's told that she overthinks things quite a bit as well as a realist. Although she's a rather pessimistic one, given that she says outright herself that she sees a lot of outcomes negatively - partially where she sees herself in the same negative light, as she describes herself as 'dark' in contrast to everyone else, who she says are too kind in comparison. She initially sees the world in shades of black and white, even though the world, in reality isn't like that at all. She also tends to keep a lot of her thoughts to herself instead of sharing it with others unless she has to - for example, when it comes to planning things out with the group to get through another Heartseed phenomenon - because she doesn't like having people see through her. Of course, in spite of her struggles to trust people, it doesn't necessarily mean that she doesn't want to - she actually admits that this is a part of her that she loathes and actively wants to change but has problems doing so, if only because she states initially that "this is just the way she is". However, later on, she admits that she was wrong and manages to change herself. While it's definitely a process, she learns to be more open with others and even manages to fall in love, too. When it comes to love, Inaba soon finds herself leaning towards her emotions over logic - even to the point where she states that she's changed because of it. Her feelings are shown rather openly; with her overflowing emotions revealing just how much she cares to the point of worrying over them. While Inaba herself might say that she's quite selfish, the opposite is actually true. She's selfless to the point where she puts others over herself and even calculates plans to help the group out. She believes that the bonds between her, her friends, and the person she loves the most are important to her to the point where she selfishly doesn't want them to separate; she'll even make an attempt to push things in a certain direction, trying her hardest to be the glue that keeps everyone together. However, even though there's a lot that she would do for her friends - and even more so for those that she loves, she's actually rather steadfast towards her ideals. She isn't willing to compromise on what she thinks is right just because she loves someone; something that shows time and again. However, when she does love someone, she actually shows a side to herself that not many others get to see from her - one that is described as her "dere" mode - where she ends up being really affectionate and clingy. She actually becomes a lot 'cuter' like this, more feminine than her usual crass and tomboyish attitude, prone to shyness and embarrassment. But she's also a bit more possessive, although it's not to the point where she won't share, given that she actually has suggested a threesome before, straight up. Most times, Inaba tends to do her best at keeping her composure but there are many times when she actually gets flustered, especially when the right buttons are pushed. Inaba herself isn't used to hearing genuine compliments - basically, she can toss compliments at other people but she doesn't take it all that easily. ▷ RANDOM TRIVIA & FACTS: ♚ CANON:
