[ She is in the living room, mostly just chilling in loose pajamas with her laptop in her lap.

And of course she still has her pendant on, so there's that but it's fine. ]

Well, I was wondering if you wanted to talk about the thing that you mentioned on the netowrk the other day.

"What kind of"— the truth, mostly. And ill answer any question you might want to ask me in return.

[ She answers firmly, trusting him to give her the entire truth.

She's not a child, after all; she doesn't need things to be sugar coated. ]

[He takes a deep breath before speaking again.]

I used to work for the mafia. I was part-hitman and part-bodyguard. My job was to keep the boss- Dazai-san- alive by neutralizing any threats to him. Most of the time, this involved killing people.

I did try to make it as quick as possible so they didn't suffer, but that doesn't undo the fact that they were killed by me.

[dereban]

I'd say that there was no possible way of just. . . knocking them out?

[ She can't help but sigh a little bit because this sounds like a difficult situation. A rather difficult one, in fact. ]

They would just come back later. Plus I was ordered to kill them anyway.

[ Asking that question because she has a feeling that might be relevant. ]

[YEP it's his boss.]

The rest you can probably figure out on your own. Murder, extortion, bribery, you name it. Dazai-san's hands were dirty, and mine were as well by association. I could have left at any point, but I didn't. I stayed and kept with the work, even though I disliked it.

Why did you stay?

[ Emphasis on the 'why', of course. ]

Because it was the life I knew. Even if I did horrible things, I still had a bed, and food, and control over my ability. So I stayed.

[dereban]

Just shut up for a bit and let me. Geez, and I thought shit back home was hard. . . It's nothing compared to what you went through.

But it's not a competition, you know. Everyone experiences hardships, and one person's being 'worse' doesn't make someone else's any easier.

I know that. It's just— for a long time, back home, I had a nice life, comparatively. So seeing someone I care about tell me something like this. . .

It's still okay. I'm not living that life anymore. I got a second chance here, and I intend on changing things for the better.
