This is the standard contact and critique page for Himeko Inaba from the Kokoro Connect light novel series. This page can be used for both constructive criticism, plotting purposes, contact, or anything else! Just leave a comment and I'll get right back to you. Inaba is a fairly complex character, so her characterization is very important. So if I'm doing anything wrong, please tell me as soon as possible - it would be highly appreciated.

MAIN CHARACTERS:
Ayame - 18, protagonist, written for the character of 'iris'; her personality is that she acts like a genki girl but in reality has difficulties with her own identity. She's an otherworlder who appeared in the world; while people claim that she might have powers, she's actually as normal as most of the other citizens.
Sora - 18, main love interest #1, written for the character of 'sky'; she's another otherworlder, from a world separate from Ayame's. She's a magical girl with water-based abilities; likes plants and especially flowers a lot. She's a bit shy, but full of warmth and quickly becomes fast friends with Ayame.
Akimitsu - 20, main love interest #2, written for the characters of "bright light"; he is someone who was born and raised in this new world. He's a bookworm and works at a cafe. Slightly older than the protagonist by a couple of years. He's a bit more on the serious side, but can crack a joke or two every now and again. He tends to be kind and helpful towards otherworlders, but there's a bit of a coldness to him, like he's not revealing much about himself, but slowly opens up as Ayame gets to spend time with him more.

Created the syndicate in order to make her life better, as she suffered during her early years as an orphan. "D" / Dokugiri - written with 'poison cutter', he is the head of the science department in the Shadow Veil. He is the one who keeps track of the experiments and comes up with a multitude of ideas for them as well. has a tendency to make chimeras and other such monsters. Absolutely revels in it.
BASIC PLOT SUMMARY:
It's a fucking isekai.
It deals with Ayame being sent to another world and opens up with her being out of her depth; her confusion towards everything and a lot of monologue that deals with her being unsure of her identity - after all, if nobody knows who 'Ayame' is, then who is she supposed to be? How is she supposed to act like?
She winds up bumping into Akimitsu, a local, who doesn't seem to be surprised at her arrival; he tells her that every now and again, they'd see someone appear in the world out of light. It's a phenomenon that they don't exactly understand, but they refer to these people as 'Starlights' - otherworlders. He continues to explain things about this world to her and Ayame realizes just how much out of her depth she's in. This world is so much different from her own, even if there are the very small similarities.
He tells her about how there's a few places she can stay at and she thanks him before heading off on her way to gather her bearings.
It's here, when she goes to the hotel, that she meets Sora, who is watering the plants right outside of it. Sora introduces herself quickly - both by name and by the fact that she's a fellow otherworlder. She gives Ayame a bit of a tour and it's after it finishes that the opening song plays.
After the opening song, we POV switch to our villains, the mysterious masked Shadow Veil. Unbeknownst to our protagonist, they are the ones that brought our protagonist and the rest of the 'Starlights' here in order to obtain power. However, they do not have any control over who they bring, and constantly run experiments for that purpose; this group is full of greed and wish to make their lives better at the cost of everyone else's. The members of the Shadow Veil are actually ordinary citizens of the world who live relatively normal lives by day, but at night, can be found in dark black coats and plain white masks. (However, exceptions are made to the Highest Members of the Shadow Veil.) Each member of this syndicate have an actual name, but as part of the Shadow Veil, they only go by code names based on the English alphabet (from A to Z) and have a ranking system based on that. Basically, the earlier your letter, the higher your rank is. There are some characters who even have the same letter (i.e: A2), and characters that have numbers are lower ranked than characters who don't have numbers. The lower the number, the higher the rank.
Ranking system goes as follows:
A > Z > A2 > Z2 > A3 etc
Throughout the story, Ayame is constantly faced with trials that the Shadow Veil throws at her. Depending on a person's choices, they can either fight against these or avoid them entirely.
Ayame has to juggle trying to live a normal life, deciding on whether she wants to go home or not, the Shadow Veil threat, and a love life, what is she to do?!
ENDINGS:
The game has several endings!
Each character has 3 bad endings, 1 good ending, and 1 true ending.
This puts the game at 9 bad endings 3 good endings and 3 true endings.
The last true ending, which is the one where Ayame gets together with both main love interests cannot be unlocked unless the other two true endings have been cleared. Any attempts at getting the last true ending will result in a normal ending that is a bit of a cliffhanger.

Canis Major is an organization that is meant to help the Fallen Stars in any way possible as needed, from helping newcomers get acclimated into the world, holding meetings, and sharing skills with each other. Their headquarters is also a community center where people can use the time to do fun recreational activities as well.

- Upon entering the main building, characters are greeted with the automated information desk tablet: this tablet provides access to a few things: a basic introductory guide to Starsand, a map of the entire city and building, and a way to contact the owner for any inquiries. The tablet will also have a separate contact list for characters to input their contact information for the public, if they so choose.
Beyond that are a set of elevators which can take characters down to any floor.
The basement has a community pool and jacuzzi that can be used for both recreational use and for learning how to swim. There are showers separated by gender. Towels and basic swimsuits are provided for use. The pool also has several diving boards at different heights.
As the basement is the most recreational place, there is also a gym where characters can play sports (equipment is included) as well as a computer lab.
The second floor is filled with rooms that can be used as classrooms for Fallen Stars to share their skills. There are also specific cooking rooms that come with a fully stocked kitchen with all the basics necessary to cook. All rooms come with a small tablet panel on the wall that can be used to order items for delivery, revisit any of the information found on the first floor, or contact anyone as needed.
The third floor consists of the meeting room, which is large enough to hold all the Fallen Stars in the city. There is a large meeting table and plenty of chairs for everyone to sit on as well as whiteboards, chalkboards, a projector and television. This room is highly protected and is meant to be a safe space for characters to talk about pertinent information without it getting leaked to the Facility or anyone else outside of these walls.
The top floor consists of office rooms for characters who want to help work at Canis Major. Most of the rooms are a lot smaller and are meant to be for smaller private meetings, but can also be used as a private workspace. Each character who decides to help out will get their own private office and key that can only be unlocked by them and the building owner; all office rooms will have nameplates with whatever name they give written on them as well as any additional pertinent information that they might want to add.
The building owner also has their office on the top floor at the end of the hall, for those who want a private discussion with them for any matters.

Disposition:
"Cool beauty". She is described as such by her friends — being someone who acts calm, cool, collected, and has everything together. She's known for looking like a model, but her disposition tends to lean towards her being a generally serious person.
Leaderly. Because of the above, she tends to be the 'leader' of her club a lot of the time in spite of being the vice president; she's the one who makes sure things get done, calls meetings, makes sure that other people aren't doing stupid, ridiculous things, and manages to plan things down to the letter. She also has the knack for it, as she acts confident in front of others because that's the kind of face that she wants to show in front of everyone else.
Trust issues. In canon, she finds it rather difficult to trust other people at all - she outright states that even though she makes the attempt to do so, and she wants to, she struggles with it due to her fear that maybe someone might betray her and the like. Of course, this is something that she keeps buried down deep, as she doesn't want people to see her weaknesses.
Black and white morality. Due to her logical nature she sees the world in shades of black and white - she even calls herself 'dark' in contrast to her friends, who are the 'light' in the world; good people in spite of her admitting to herself that there's also no way that she could possibly confirm that they're actually good, given that she sees herself as someone who just simply isn't.
Selfless. While she does have some selfish tendencies and acts for the betterment of herself, she's actually the true selfless one in the group; she cares so much about the others over herself and even tries to calculate plans to help those that she cares about. And she also wholeheartedly believes that if there's something about her feelings that could possibly ruin her relationships, she would rather just bury them down deep instead of admitting to them.
Worrier. Because of her disposition as an analyst and her distrustful nature, she's almost always constantly worried about something - whether it be about her situation, herself, or other people.
Suitability: Inaba is from a canon where the formulation of bonds and connections are important — of course, she's coming from a canon point where she doesn't know just how important that is, given that her soul has been tampered with due to Record Deletion causing her to forget about all of the supernatural phenomena that had been inflicted upon her, meaning that she's going to have to start from scratch.
Inaba has a lot of trust issues: which means it's going to make syncing with her difficult, but not impossible. Having her grow, learn and change - syncing is something that can be used to not only learn about others and how they feel, but also a chance for her to slowly open up her heart and learn about herself, too.
Also in terms of transformations: it's something that would make her uncomfortable, as someone who already has a lot of discomfort about herself due to seeing herself as a "negative person" but she likes being human overall.
Condition upon arrival: In perfect health for someone of her age, by human standards. In terms of her mental state, as stated above she has a tendency to not trust others, so she may take some issue with the natives upon arrival, but not in a sense that she'd actually physically fight them, just be rather argumental. Outside of that, however: her soul has been extremely tampered with which might be able to be noticed with more advanced science and magic - it's because of this that she has a lot of gaps in her memories and a lot of memories that were forcibly rewritten; of course, it isn't something that can be seen using normal means due to how it was done, but if it can be seen through advanced science/magic somehow and she's told about it, that's something that can be noted.
Abilities: While without any supernatural abilities, Inaba herself is rather talented in other ways: the two major ones being the analysis of people and situations; she canonically can read things and figure out solutions, which makes her pretty amazing at adapting to basically any situation that is thrown at her. She is also noted to have a good poker face and is just casually just very good at lying boldly at others when it's absolutely necessary.
She is also rather skilled with technology, as she knows how to build a computer from scratch (circa 2010) and even knows how to program.
And another thing to note is that, as stated above - her soul has been messed with quite a bit to the point where she's lost memories of certain things, but it also means that her soul, in a sense is 'used' to supernatural phenomena and is actually very powerful at actually withstanding things of that nature - meaning that while she can be affected by supernatural things, as she has no way to protect herself, it isn't fragile.

Powers/abilities: Himeko is a normal human being, which means all of her skills are mundane. She's a rather talented analyst that tries to figure things out based on her own personal knowledge and logic of the world around her; it's how she managed to deal with a lot of the phenomena that were thrown at her. And it's also because of that she finds herself easily adapting to strange situations.
It's also canon that she's rather skilled with technology, knowing how to build a computer from scratch and even knowing how to program.

"Greatest weakness", huh... why, exactly would I share that information with you? That's something that's meant for me to know and for you to never figure out. Simple as that.

You really are trying to dig for crap, aren't you? You're not getting those answers out of me so easily. If you're trying to scare me, you'll have to try really hard to do that.

Curry. It's Taichi's favorite, so naturally, I'd choose something that reminded me of him.
✽ Has your character ever killed? If so, how did that affect them? If not, how would it affect them?
Of course I haven't killed anyone. Doing something like that... it's morally wrong. But I suppose if I had to - it'd have to be for a very good reason. how it'd affect me, though? I'm not entirely sure. I don't even want to even imagine it.
✽ If your character was given one selfish wish (eg. must be applied to themselves and not affect others), what would it be?
A selfish wish just for myself, huh... the most selfish wish would be to 'wish for more wishes', right? There's no rule that says I can't do that. Then I'd probably wish for money, maybe some computer parts... that'd be nice.

- Inaba Himeko presents herself as what seems to be the "cool beauty", defined by her friends as an intelligent young woman who is calm, cool and collected when it comes down to it and essentially has everything together. She winds up practically being the leader of the club in spite of being the vice president because of this. After all, she's the one that makes sure that things get done and is also the one who finds herself leading the group; she's the one who calls meetings and making sure that the others aren't doing stupid things and is the one who manages to plan out things down to the letter.
She is, however, at times, to play along with other people's jokes, being the "straight man" of the group; in fact, she even sometimes willing to mess around with people if it means that she can get a bit of entertainment out of it, although it's never outright malicious.
However, all of this is just a well-crafted façade that Inaba wears throughout the first two volumes in front of everyone so people can believe that she has everything together when she honestly... does not.
This all boils down to Inaba's main issue: she finds it difficult to trust other people at all. It doesn't just simply boil down to just strangers, however; this also includes friends and family, too. It's because of this mindset of hers that she winds up pushing other people aside, wearing that proverbial mask so others can't learn that she actually sees everyone as her 'enemy'.
She acts confident in front of others - which can come off as sometimes a little crass - in order to bury her weaknesses; the only exception being when she's purposely polite out of necessity.
Inaba's struggles to trust others boil down to the fact that she is a very logical person to the point where she analyzes things a bit too much. She's also rather pessimistic, given that she says outright that she sees a lot of outcomes negatively - to the point where she sees the world in shades of black and white morality; seeing herself as 'dark' while her friends are kind in spite of admitting that there's no way she could possibly confirm that her friends are actually good people, given her personality. She also tends to keep a lot of her thoughts to herself instead of sharing it with others unless she has to because she doesn't like having people see right through her.
In spite of her struggles to trust people, it doesn't necessarily mean that she doesn't want to - she actually admits that this is a part of her that she loathes and actively wants to change but has problems doing so, given that she believes this side of her is normal. Later on, she admits that she was wrong, learning that she needs to change and grow in order to improve herself.
She manages to gain the courage to open up to others in spite of her fear of being looked down upon and being hated - revealing that she actually cares a lot about how others perceive her as a person quite a lot. But how she gets this strength is through the support of the others around her, reassuring her that everything will be alright in spite of her anxieties and worries.
When it comes to love, Inaba soon finds herself leaning towards her emotions over logic - even to the point where she states that she's changed because of it. Her feelings are shown rather openly; with her overflowing emotions revealing just how much she cares to the point of worrying over them.
While Inaba herself might say that she's quite selfish, the opposite is actually true. She's selfless to the point where she puts others over herself and even calculates plans to help the group out. She believes that the bonds between her, her friends, and the person she loves the most are important to her to the point where she selfishly doesn't want them to separate; she'll even make an attempt to push things in a certain direction, trying her hardest to be the glue that keeps everyone together. However, even though there's a lot that she would do for her friends - and even more so for those that she loves, she's actually rather steadfast towards her ideals. She isn't willing to compromise on what she thinks is right just because she loves someone; something that shows time and again.
Most times, Inaba tends to do her best at keeping her composure but there are many times when she actually gets flustered, especially when the right buttons are pushed.
