[Oh look who's on screen now. And Atsushi finds himself struggling with this a bit more than he thought he would.]

[ She just hums to herself contemplatively, taking out a notebook and writing down notes. ]

You don't mind, do you?

[ But then.

Dazai happens and she just stares. And then she hears his voice which makes her pause the DVD, glances at him for a second with a worried look on her face and then asks the much more important question here: ]

Are you. . . going to be okay?

[moonlightbeast]

I'll be fine.

[The answer comes almost immediately, but after a moment he thinks to say more, if only to reassure Inaba.]

He sounds exactly like him, that's all. I know this is...

[He doesn't want to say 'fake', even if it's not at all the right stuff.]

...not exactly real, but his voice is a perfect match. But it's okay, I'll be okay.

[He's actually curious to see where this goes, and to see if there's an explanation here somewhere.]

[ She finds herself sucking in a breath before sighing, uncertain if she believes him entirely before patting the bed. ]

Maybe you should sit next to me?

[ It might be better than sitting on the chair for him right now. ]

[Well, if she's inviting him, he'll go ahead and move to sit right next to her. He'll even lean on her a bit, so their shoulders are touching.]

It's different. I don't know why, but it's different. This isn't how things happened.

[ Thankfully, she'll allow him to lean on her; that's why she let him join her on the bed, after all. ]

[ Is her first guess.

She does not unpause just yet, though. ]

That seems like a good way to tell if this is truly an alternate timeline or not.]

[ She looks at the back of the box again and reads it aloud for him. ]

This one doesn't. And the other one. . . [ Reading this as well! ] Doesn't seem to mention that person, either.

[Hm. That's concerning.]

Dazai-san once told me "this is the only world where he writes his book." So if the world of this show is different from my world, then he would be dead. Which might be why he's not mentioned? He worked at the Armed Detective Agency in my world, just like Akutagawa.

[Now there's someone mentioned in the summaries.]

Does that mean that Dazai's aware of it. . .? Parallel universes.

[ With that sort of phrasing. There's a bit of a hum and Inaba's writing ] Usually in fiction, parallel universes are written out as spinoffs. So like a light novel or a manga or something like that. Do you want to keep watching, though?

I...I'm sure he did.

[After all, Dazai had told him exactly how such a thing would be possible.

But at that last question, he will nod. Watch the anime, Inaba, and watch as Atsushi's mood gradually drops over the next few hours.]

Okay, but just don't force yourself too much.

[ Before she grabs the remote, she wraps an arm around him, keeping herself close to him. And then she presses play. ]

[Of course, the hard part is that there is so much Dazai in all of BSD that it's hard for Atsushi to watch it and not compare the Dazai he knows to this Dazai on tv. Sorry Inaba, he's talking during the show.]

He's...nicer. This one, in the show. Dazai-san was never outright mean, but he wasn't exactly 'nice' either. And his smiles were always fake. This one seems a little more genuine.

[And then eventually Akutagawa shows up, and Atsushi grimaces.]

Ah. So he's more violent like this, then. I guess it's good he found a way to mellow out in my world, he was intense enough already.

[ It's okay, Inaba doesn't really mind, although she's being quiet throughout, allowing Atsushi to ramble, creating comparisons between the Dazai he knew and the Dazai he sees on the screen.

She can't help but wonder a little more about how different they are. But based on what Atsushi did tell her, he's not wrong. It's when Akutagawa shows up that she can't help but hum a bit in curiosity. ]

What what he like. . . back where you're from? Besides his "intensity"?

[This happens at right about the time where Rashomon eats Atsushi's leg.]

But you actually named the tiger? [ She swears she's heard the name Byakko before, though. ]

I didn't name him, the name just popped into my head one day. So I think it's his.

Huh. So he actually has a name.

I'm actually really hoping I can pet him the next time I see him.

Maybe if we can find a version of Fukuzawa-san here, that could happen.

[Since they did just get a summary of his ability like two episodes ago.]

Or maybe I should try that meditating thing again. It kind of worked last time.

That'd be nice. I'm kind of jealous that Cinque got to pet him while--

[ And that's when her words stop and she finds herself a little self conscious of the whole thing and stops herself, curling in a little bit. ]

If you want to try that again, we can?

I mean, I could always give you a syringe full of sedatives and try to transform partially? That way if it goes too far, you can knock me out and I will change back.

I'm not drugging you. I feel like a lot of people would get angry at me if they found out I did that.

I-It's fine, I would trust you with it.

[At least she wouldn't erase his memory too.]

Besides, if you want to see the tiger, I want to show you.

[Ironically, the tiger is on tv now.]

And without a Dazai-san in this world to stop me, drugs are the next best thing. That or outright knocking me out.
